On a global scale, research has shown that women are taking on more positions at the senior level. Statistics show that in 2019, 29% of senior management roles were held by women, the highest number ever on record. To add, statistics for the same year present that 87% of global businesses have at least one woman in a senior management role. Currently, women hold 5.6% (28) of CEO positions at the S&P 500 companies.
There have been a lot of improvements globally in the last several years in women taking a leadership role, but more work is needed for women to have equal influence as men in global leadership
