Law & Literacy: The Correlation for Peace and Sustainable Development

The International Federation for Peace & Sustainable Development (IFPSD), working towards the inclusion and empowerment all sectors, along with sustainable development, hosted the event, during the 57th Commissions on Social Development, “Law & Literacy; the Correlation for Peace and Sustainability” at the UNHQ. President Sally Kader joined forces together with Honorable Women Judges to raise awareness of the challenges faced by the Youth, Ageing and Disabled of social inclusion through fiscal, wage and social protection policies. 

The high-level panel of experts discussed the necessity for implementing the current rule of law to protect each sector for the Youth, Ageing, and Disabled people. The event focused on key issues including higher protection and stability for the Youth and Ageing, greater attention on the appointment of an independent guardianship for ageing or disabled people, and empowerment for the voice of social groups, and for widespread opportunities of children’s education. During the discussion, the Honorable Judges pointed out that the national system for social inclusion is not perfect, but it is the most suitable and can have beneficial effects for these groups.

The event was commenced with a lively discussion by distinguished Ambassadors from the Permanent Missions of Tanzania and Guatemala to the United Nations. Each ambassador delivered their remarks sharing their expertise undertaken by their respectful countries to ending the challenges face by all three groups, as well as the importance in programs and policies of inclusion. Hon. Judge Amy L. NechtemHon. Judge Kathy J. King, Hon. Judge Michelle Hollar- Gregory, and Hon. Judge Elizabeth Lamb all incorporated their experience and knowledge as Honorable Judges to establish the current laws that must be implemented, the necessary changes that have to be evaluated, and the way that law can dismantle the challenges faced by these groups. 

The IFPSD, is in consultative status with the United Nations Economic and Social Council (UN-ECOSOC), and is associated with Department of Public information (UN-DPI) also associated with the UN Department of Political Affairs (UNDPA) and accredited with the UN Conference on Trade and Development (UNCTAD). It is represented across 5 continents and 17 countries. In addition to women and girl empowerment, IFPSD is also committed to human rights, interfaith dialogue, cultural heritage, health and well-being, Youth Empowerment and as a part of its efforts to reach the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development.
