President Sally Kader was invited to participate in the High Level Thematic Debate on Peace and Security focusing on best practices in ensuring wider participation in peace processes.
The Nordic countries Finland, Denmark, Iceland, Norway and Sweden hosted the event on Wednesday, 11th May, in cooperation with the Nordic Women Mediators’ Network and their operational partners.
The aim of this event was to identify gaps, and brainstorm for ways to move forward in ensuring the wider inclusion of women in decision-making and peace processess. The event began with high-level remarks from the Nordic ministers and senior UN representatives, followed by a panel discussion featuring prominent women who have served as lead mediators at the peace tables, and a Q&A session.
