AI for Women’s Economic Empowerment: Opportunities and Challenges From a global perspective.
Hosted by Solomon Islands and International Federation for Peace and Sustainable Development (IFPSD)
The high-level side event will convene a distinguished panel of experts to explore how artificial intelligence (AI) can support female entrepreneurs, enhance access to equal opportunities, and promote financial inclusion for women. AI holds the transformative potential to overcome structural barriers that have historically limited women’s economic participation. Women are disproportionately underrepresented in AI-related industries, leadership roles, and the development of algorithms, which can lead to biases that perpetuate systemic discrimination. Addressing these challenges is essential to ensuring that AI becomes a tool for inclusion rather than exclusion.
With the participation of UN Member States, high-level policymakers, UN representatives, industry leaders, civil society, academia, and relevant stakeholders, this event aims to offer innovative solutions to achieving gender equality, poverty alleviation, and the goals of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development.
