President Sally Kader participated in the 15th Session of Permanent Forum on Indigenous Issues (PFII) at the United Nations headquarters.
The PFII works towards bringing member states and representatives of indigenous peoples together around the theme, “Indigenous Peoples: Conflict, Peace and Resolution”. The session addressed the implementation of mandated areas of the PFII with reference to the UN Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples (UNDRIP), and coordination amongst the three UN bodies on indigenous affairs. A dialogue took place with the Special Rapporteur on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples. The session also considered the future work of the PFII, as well as emerging issues affecting the indigenous peoples across the globe.
